Taylor 324ce VS 322ce: What is the difference between the two?
The body shape
The main difference (one of the only differences) between these two guitars is the body shape, where the 324ce is a Grand Auditorium and the 322ce is a Grand Concert. This gives the 322ce more of a focused tone and a little less string tension, though it's very hard to hear the difference.
In Taylor acoustics, the numbering convention tells you a lot about the guitar. With the 324, for example, each number means the following:
- Three: Taylor series number
- Two: Top tonewood (Mahogany)
- Four: Body shape (Grand Auditorium)
You'll notice the body shape number (the third digit) is different in the 322ce. This signifies the Grand Concert body shape. This is one of the only discernable differences between these two guitars.
- Taylor 324ce: Grand Auditorium body
- Taylor 322ce: Grand Concert body shape
The numbers always just seem like numbers, but in guitar models they mean something.

What are the tone/sound differences?
The Grand Concert body shape narrows the focus of the 322ce's tone, but the difference is verysubtle and subjective. Both are all Mahogany, so they're darker than the typical Taylor. To my ear, theremight be a little more midrange projected in the 322ce. But I often say, we don't need to split too many hairs on these guitars. They sound similar, and equally fantastic.

Body type and scale length are the only significant differences we can see, and even the scale length is negligible. I'm not sure what the difference is between Taylor and "Taylor closed gear" tuners, though it might have something to do with the different headstock design we've seen on some of the 322s.

When we published this page, the price of these two guitars was roughly the same. Moreover, the tone wasreallysimilar. Any difference you might hear in the sound is pretty subjective and completely up to your ear.
